So Starcraft 2 was finally released a week or so ago.  I would have loved to play the game, but sadly I don’t have a gaming pc at the moment (FML!)  I have been reading up on it for a while and I have listened to the casts of some South African beta tourneys.

I have also watched my boyfriend play some 3v3 with his two brothers and I have to say it looks AWESOME.  I have to admit though that I only have a very basic understanding of the game.  I know for example that there are three races (Protoss, Zerg and Terran) and that each of these races have unique units with awesome skills you can use to protect your base and defeat your opponent.  If I could play SC2, I would like to play Protoss because of one very simple and awesome reason: Psi Blades. \:D/

I have read various articles and explanations of the general story line, and I have to admit that it is really carefully thought out and interesting.  All the sources I read, although interesting, did lack the more technical details.  But then a good friend of mine directed me to a site that provides a detailed explanation of each race and their units.

The thing I found most useful was the breakdown of each unit because I knew very little about each unit.  The site displays it like so (click to see better ) under the ‘Units’ tab :

The site also features a ‘Tables’ tab where you can look at each race individually.  A list of units is displayed and the minerals, gas, supply, build time, armor, health and whether it targets air, ground or both is listed neatly!  It looks like this (click to enlarge) :

Another very useful tab is the ‘MatchUp’ one because it gives you a little comparison between different units.  It displays it in a simplified, noob-proof way by using graphs and pictures!  It is an easy way to see how units will perform against each other.  I have chosen a Terran Marauder and Protoss Stalker to show more or less what it will look like.  Here’s a screeny:

The site really helped me to understand the game a little better, so if you have JUST started playing or if you simply want to support your geek, this is definitely the right site to check out.

So if your geek is anything like mine, he would be in-game for hours at a time and forget to eat till his stomach is practically yelling at him.  This usually happens during a tense time of the game so your geek will probably get something unhealthy to eat because it is fast and he would like to get back to his game ASAP.

As his girlfriend it is your DUTY to ensure that your geek is getting enough veggies in his diet.  Today I made some awesome butternut soup for my geek.  He’s not really a big soup fan but soon enough he was omnomnoming the soup because it was just sooooo yum!  You can buy some butternut soup from Woolworths, it’s the greatest!  I served the soup with fresh bread rolls and a dollop of sour cream.

Okay, so I found the following vid quite funny.  The sad thing is, a lot of girls are like that! That’s why you have to get yourself a geek girl We’re not so demanding!

The video is done like one of those old sidescroller games, and shows how the hero saves the princess.  After he saves her she becomes extremely demanding and he has NO idea how to keep catering for her needs.  Go watch! It’s kewl
